Sharad D. Madison
President and CEO
Sharad Madison, President, CEO and Chairman of United, a company founded and owned by his late father, Oliver Madison, joined United in 1994 to help build the company into an organization that currently employs over 800 employees. United is the first minority cleaning company to service a “Class A” building as a prime contractor in New York City. The company services numerous major corporations such as: J.P. Morgan Chase, TIAA-CREF, TD Bank, Citigroup, and MetLife.
Prior to joining United, Mr. Madison worked for Coram/Curaflex Healthcare as a Regional General Manager, covering New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. He was responsible for tripling the patient base and procuring the largest managed care contract in the company. In addition, he led his region to one of the highest Joint Hospital Accreditation scores in the country.
Previous to his tenure at Coram/Curable Healthcare, Mr. Madison worked for HMSS, Inc. as an Area Sales Manager. He was awarded the President's Award in 1990 and appointed to the President's Advisory Council and National Marketing Advisory Council in 1991.
Preceding his tenure at HMSS, Inc., Mr. Madison worked for ICI Pharmaceuticals Group where he held posts as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative, Regional Recruiter and lastly, Oncology Specialist.
Mr. Madison graduated from Morehouse College in May 1985 with a degree in Biology. He has also attended the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth Entrepreneurship Program and the Kellogg School of Management Entrepreneurship Program.
Mr. Madison sits on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Newark, The Board of Governors of TPC at Jasna Polana in Princeton and the Board of the Accident and Prevention Safety Group in New York City. Mr. Madison formally held the following positions: member of the Minority Business Input Committee of the Council, member in the first class of the Center of Excellence roundtable of the NMSDC and member of the Diversity Advisory Committee for Goldman Sachs. He is also past chair for the New York Area for the Amos Tuck School of Minority Entrepreneurship Program.
Harry A. Laster
Senior Vice President
Mr. Laster is currently responsible for Business Development, Client Relations, Operations and Labor Relations at United. He has spent in excess of twenty five years providing janitorial and related services to clients in New York City, the Metropolitan Area, and Eastern Pennsylvania.
His experiences have crossed many different industries and many types of facilities. Ranging from small retail accounts to multi-million square foot buildings, the clients Mr. Laster has serviced properties for include Corporate Headquarters, Multi-Tenant Properties, Health Care Facilities, Performing Arts Venues, and Schools. During his tenure he has held senior positions in several major companies in our industry.
Mr. Laster's professional experience is supported by academic achievements including a Bachelor of Arts from Queens College and a Masters of Business Administration from Adelphi University.
Joseph G. Silvestri
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Silvestri is responsible for all financial operations and transactions at United. He is a proven business leader with over twenty-five years of progressive experience in all aspects of business operations, including: finance, operations, project and general management.
The diversity of his business experience spans from public accounting, a Fortune 100 company as well as a small biotech firm. Mr. Silvestri's experience with Deloitte Haskins and Sells (now Deloitte Touche) provided him with extensive exposure to the inner workings of numerous corporate clients in a variety of businesses. Moving to FMC Corporation in Philadelphia, Mr. Silvestri was responsible for monitoring the financial and operating performance of the seven global manufacturing facilities of the Agricultural Chemical Group. In addition, to his primary responsibilities as the Corporate Manager of Planning and Analysis at Envirogen, in Princeton, New Jersey he was frequently brought in to assist with the management of troubled projects.
For ten years, he served as Executive Vice President at SRT where he was a co-founder and an owner. Being that Mr. Silvestri was in charge of operations from 2003 to 2008, he was instrumental in improving SRT's operational capabilities and efficiencies, while implementing improved quality standards. During his tenure at SRT, the company tripled production capacity while increasing its in-house production capabilities, such as DVD manufacturing, digital printing, and color thermal printing.
Mr. Silvestri's academic achievements include both a degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration, from Villanova University.
